Coachwhips/Intelligence (omni036) split 7 inch
Order from toneVENDOR. COACHWHIPS: Led by mercurial underground fashion plate JOHN DWYER’s (Pink & Brown) scorching guitar and phone-mic’d Log-vox, MATT HARTMAN’s (ex-Henry's Dress, Catpower) rumbling drums, and VIVACIOUS VAL’s (Double Duchess) cheap-brand keyboard melodies, the band burns down the house with two exclusive tracks recorded by stun-gun toting engineer Chris Woodhouse. INTELLIGENCE: Seattle's angst-ridden art-pop warrior, LARS FINBERG (A-Frames, Dipers) returns with the help of Chris Woodhouse (Karate Party, FM Knives) to dish out three new, blazing tracks of solid post-punk clang. Thick rhythms and driving bass lines collide with sparse, angular guitar riffs and voiced pronouncements of science, future, and frustration. PRESSED ON THICK, 70 GRAM VINYL.

Good Goodbyes "s/t" CD E.P. (omni047)
... Do we really need to try and explain this one? Its Marty & Neal (The Shins, Flake Music), Howard Hamilton (Busy Signals) and Ryan Holmes hammering out 4 tracks of sunny, electronic tinged pop. the new release coordinator at our distributor kept hounding me for a description, and i was like "why? Is that really necessary?". She beat one out of me, but it sucks, i'm a really crappy writer. So lets just forget about a bunch of useless jibber-jabber and just say that the E.P. is finally here (in stores early April 2005), but only available for mailorder from Midheaven at the link above until then. Artwork by Jay Howell.

Gift Of Goats "When We Ate Eachother's Fingers" (omni039) 7"
The brand new 7'' e.p. by Northern California's amazing art-damaged, experimental-noise influenced, punk racketeers. Four tracks of distorted rock and roll menace drenched in feedback chatter and bad vibes. Recorded by Chris Woodhouse, artwork by Troy Mighty, limited to 300 copies! GIFT OF GOATS really remind me of a more 'x-treme' Monorchid, This is my favorite band on this piece. (Horizontal Action) Gift Of Goats: One stunner of a band who play wholly varied, wholly original hardcore (apparently no small feat these days). The closest equivalent I can muster is Black Flag at their pain-drenched prime, although these guys sound nothing like them. Recommended for the Gift Of Goats tracks alone. (Razorcake GIFT OF GOATS offer the gift of distortion and bad vibes with their five songs of Am Rep-influenced noise rock... The cover art and inserts all leave you with a vague sense of all parties involved being responisble for some serious art school violence. Not for everyone but those that are into variety and weirdness might wanna check this crazy shit out. (Maximum Rock & Roll). Order from Midheaven

Long time Omnibus contributor Jay Howell (ex. Shove, Gift Of Goats) has release his first book "Negatron", a collection of illustrations and writings from various limited run zines, most of which have previously been available only at his art openings. Mailorder the book from toneVENDOR or check out some more info (and a page or two) at Abide Visuals.

Sexy Prison "Italians Who Just Saw Rocky" LP (NASCAR 001)/CD (omni039)
The superbly insane LP release from this psychotic and much loved death disco duo is finally here (CD version out in a few months). 110 copies are the color of Mountain Dew, the other 405 are clear red. Order from toneVENDOR.

Mister Metaphor "Die On The High Road" CD E.P. (omni045)
The debut e.p. by a brand new four-piece outfit from Sacramento. Post-punk meets mathmatical neu-prog meets pop, tipping their collective hat towards the sounds of Yes, Boys Life and The Smiths. In a nod to its prog-rock predecessors, Mister Metaphor artfully mixes harmonic vocals and instrumentation over rhythms that are unpredictable from one song to the next. With a handful of West Coast tours under their belt (including dates with Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Walkmen, Nada Surf, The Joggers and more), Mister Metaphor will be touring the U.S. from July to August 2004, and have plans to hit the road a few more times before the year is up. Order from toneVENDOR.

Electro Group "Ummo" CD (omni041)
Northern California's noise-pop kings are back with seven blazing, feedback drenched new songs and an added video for the title-track. Thundering, distorted noise-pop complete with chattering guitars, buried organs & electronics and roaring drums. By far their best recordings yet, this follow up tops their highly touted debut “A New Pacifica”. Electro Group just finished recording a cover of Sonic Youth's "100%" with ex. Pavement drummer/engineer Gary Young for an upcoming release by his band Hospital. Ian (bass) is also recording a sideproject with Zach Hill (Hella, Crime In Choir). Look for dates with Sleater-Kinney, Quasi, Swords Project, Hella and others this Summer. Release date is May 18, but mailorder now from our friends at toneVENDOR.

Gary Young's Hospital "The Grey Album" CD (omni042)
Yes, that's the same legendary drummer/producer for all of Pavement's early stuff and the amazing "Slanted And Enchanted" album. Yes, that's the same guy who put out a solo record on Big Cat in the 90's that landed him a video on MTV for the song "Plantman" featuring Thurston Moore dressed as a tree, and Gary in an astro-turf suit. Gary recently reappeared at the 2004 SF Noise Pop festival (2 shows), will be playing SF's Mission Creek Festival, the Central Valley Indie Festival and will be touring throughout 2004. Gary and his Hospital recently recorded a cover of Sonic Youth's "100%" with Electro Group backing them up, and is working out additional recordings backed by Grandaddy, Thurston Moore and others, but we'll get into that later... The irony of Gary Young's career, which historians of Pavement's early years never fail to mention, was that Gary was a "Yes fan in an indie band." Truth be told, Gary never did have much exposure to indie rock prior to joining Pavement--it was uniquely different--Gary had a bona fide crash course in indie rock. "Slanted and Enchanted" defined a style for a decade and it wasn't until Gary left Pavement that he truly realized what he helped create. But the irony doesn't end there. In 1994, Gary released his first solo album. It was titled "Gary Young's Hospital." One might have expected it to be a return to his prog rock heritage.   But no. Hospital was without a doubt indie rock. Perhaps the sound had seeped in through his pours. Perhaps Gary was an indie rocker all along. Who knows? Release date to stores is still a month away, but mailorder ahead of time from our friends at toneVENDOR.

Citizens Here And Abroad "Ghosts Of Tables And Chairs" CD (omni044). Dark, brooding pop perfection from members of various San Francisco Bay area veteran bands. We could go on about how much we love this release, but we'll let these write ups in the SF Weekly and the SF Bay Guardian speak for it. MP3s, pictures, and other info on the band's site. Official release date is February 3rd, but you can order it now from our friends at toneVENDOR.

The Dipers "How To Plan Successful Parties" CD/LP (omni038). The gaucherie that is How to Plan Successful Parties relies not on squishy sentiments, fist-pumping party anthems, nor smoke and mirror tricks to project it?s message and the reason for this is that Successful Parties has no message. In fact, you will find not a single set of instructions for arranging celebrations successful or otherwise so don?t even look. Written democratically and without a dictionary by Emphysema, Ricketts, and Cirrhosis (all, it should be said, past and present members of other similarly bombastic and trashy musical outfits such as the A-Frames, the Intelligence, and Double Fudge) and recorded by Sacramento?s stun-gun toting boy genius, Chris Woodhouse, these seven songs ooze sexy mashed potato slush laced with shrapnel and unicorn horns. Put these songs on after polishing off a box of bargain basement macaroni and cheese and see if you don?t have to fight the urge to run a nice lukewarm bath and set that bitch on repeat. Order the CD or LP.

The Intelligence "Boredom And Terror" CD (omni043) will be officially released to stores Jan. 6th 2004, but is available via mailorder now! In order to sonically lay it down sideways for you, Lars Finberg, the lo-fi dandy of West Seattle, locked his front door and pressed the record button on his favorite eight-track machine and made ten songs that could be either ecclesiastic alien probes, Hank Williams going electro-slash, or John Lennon making friends with a video game. Finberg, you?ll probably want to know, is the Battlestar Galactica-esque drummer of the A-Frames, and while the programmed beats he?s employed herein are reminiscent of that band?s post-punk heroics, their digital drag and slur render them feathers of an entirely different bird. Lyrically, our post-pop sarcastic Snoop Dog-substitute slays us best on the album?s standout track, ?Telephone Wires,? rhyming ?telephone wires/connecting the liars/directly to fires/that never get tired? and on and on and on. And while it should be said that Finberg, in his sequestered 8-track sanctuary, teems with true talent, it simply has to be said that the band he has collected in the wake of these recordings are veritable toolboxes of the stuff. Members of A-Frames, Pyramids, and Thee Flying Dutchmen join Finberg in his live recitations of this stuff, and it only gets way, way better.. So now that you?ve had some time to floss your brain with the combo of our generation and simultaneously spin this little Ritz of a cracker in your Discman, we?re sure you?ll agree that terror is indeed boring and boredom is indeed terrifying. And the Intelligence are your new People magazine. Order from Midheaven.

Sexy Prison "Bury My Heart At Vladivostock" b/w "Escape From Dude Mountain" 7 inch (omni040). If this is supposed to be a joke I really don't get it. I thought these guys were funny for like 5 seconds until they punched this girl in the head at one of their shows and didn't even say sorry, I could tell they did it on purpose too. Later, I heard they kicked some kid's dog in the head the same night outside the show because they said it looked at them "gay". What the hell is so funny about the number 2007? Or Carl's Jr. commercials? Or quantifying everything in %? These guys are just stupid assholes who get drunk and stick their dicks into anything that moves, including each other I bet. I fucking hate them. Don't buy this record, it's a trick. Limited edition one-sided 7? with special packaging and a silk-screened b-side. Order from Midheaven

Rocketship / Trace split CD/LP (omni030) is here! Rocketship was formed in the early 90's in Sacramento, California by Dusty Reske. Working with many other musicians, including members of Henry's Dress, Aislers Set, Trace, Electro Group, and Holiday Flyer, among others, Rocketship burst onto the scene with their near legendary ?Hey Hey Girl? single on Bus Stop records, and followed it with the highly acclaimed ?A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness? on Slumberland Records in 1996. The initial 60?s styled pop layered in whirling analog organs and bright guitars have merged with Dustin?s continuous experimentation with electronics and production to create the wonderful amalgamation of styles featured on this release. Trace have existed for nearly a decade as an on going recording project between 4 long time Sacramento collective, including Tim Jacobson from the revered noise poppers Electro Group. The band became more and more reclusive over teh years, stopped playing live almost entirely, but continued to record an immense catalog of songs, refining their sound with fuzz guitar, buzzing analog organs and bright pop hooks. Order the CD or LP.

The Minders "Tearaway" b/w "Some Perfect Day" 7 inch (omni035) is out now! Two brand new 60?s tinged pop greats from this Elephant 6 Collective mainstay. They?ve been a favorite of team Omnibus since their first amazing LP ?Hooray For Tuesday? (SpinArt) and we couldn?t be more pleased to be releasing this single. The title track is a step in a new direction with even more droning organ sounds & dueling vocals from Martyn & Rebecca. Artwork by Portland favorite Trish Grantham. Hits stores Aug. 19th, but you can mailorder it now from our friends at toneVENDOR.

JX:ATG | Corpse Fucks Corpse | Gift Of Goats | Get Get Go 4 way split 12 inch (omni034) is out now! Four amazing art-damaged, experimental-noise influenced, punk racketeers. Jonny X and the Groadies (JX:ATG) drop 7 tracks of hammering drum machines, haunting organs and a string section drenched in a wall of minor-key guitars. Corpse Fucks Corpse follows with loose, chaotic spazz-core you can (and will) dance to. The noisey, confused and often drunken idiocy of the Gift Of Goats translates into 6 tracks of distorted rock and roll menace drenched in feedback chatter, hippie-fied drum circle percussion, tape loops and samplers. The amazing Get Get Go two-piece make for a mind-blowing closing freak out with skull crushing drum breaks, ear piercing scream-fests, and some of the most tweaked, heavy handed guitar riffs on the whole record. Minimal packaging with fantastic illustrations by up and coming Portland-by-way-of-Sacramento artist Troy Mighty. Order now from Midheaven.
